It’s 1900 and the industrial revolution is on! Philips and DAF are founded and in Heeze Willem van Engelen and Peter Evers in Heeze start a factory for woven tapes. The cigar industry is booming and supplying cigar tapes is “Van Engelen & Evers” main business.
Initially we produce ribbons for cigar boxes. Later we add products such as knitting cotton, laces and labels. Our products were sold all over the world. In the heyday, 400 people worked with their own business school and football team.
The 50’s and 60’s are hard times for the textile industry in The Netherlands. By pivoting on time, Van Engelen & Evers survives and proudly becomes “Purveyor to the Royal Family” during their 100th anniversary.
